TotalEnergies began as a state-owned oil refining company in France
in 1924 and has grown into one of five major chemical
companies in the world by a series of mergers with Petrofina,
a Belgian petrochemical company in 1999, and
Elf Aquitanine, a French oil refining company in 2000.
Currently, TotalEnergies is engaged in
various management activities,
including oil and gas exploration,
crude oil refining and
petrochemical production,

sales in more than 130 countries.
In 2003, Hanwha TotalEnergies Petrochemical established a foundation to grow into a global chemical and energy leader
through a joint venture with TotalEnergies, global chemical and energy companies in France, with share ratio of 50 to 50;
it was newly incorporated as an affiliate of Hanwha Group in 2015, and now dreams of another leap.
